Francis "Frank" Hammel, 47, of Beloit, Wis., formerly of New Albin, was dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital, Janesville, Wis., on Friday, Dec. 12, 1980. Cause of death was not available.

He was born Nov. 27, 1933, in New Albin, to Louis and Matilda (Thimmesch) Hammel. He married Mona Donovan on April 7, 1956, in New Albin.

Hammel had lived in Beloit for the past 25 years, and worked at the Helgisteel Company of Janesville, for the past three years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Joni of Oconto, Wis., and Patti of Beloit; a son, Mark of Beloit; two brothers, Eugene of California and Leo of Texas; and four sisters, Mrs. Richard Jacobs of Roscoe, Ill., Mrs. Raymond Zoll of New Albin, and Mrs. Paul Kavan and Mrs. Howard Moericke, both of Montana.

Two sons preceded him in death.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Daley-Murphy-Wische Funeral Home, Beloit, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Jude's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Mount Thabor Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary to be said at 7:30 p.m.
