William L. Bernier, 76, New Albin, died Thursday, April 14, 1983, in St. Francis Medical Center, La Crosse.
He was born on Oct. 8, 1906, in Seneca, Wis., to Michael and Josephine (Leary) Bernier. He married Rita Zlabek on June 2, 1956, in Prairie du Chien, Wis.
Bernier had been a farmer and livestock buyer for the Staggemeyer Livestock, Company in New Albin.
He was a member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus St. Francis Council of La Crosse, and the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Schwebach Council of La Crosse. He was also a member of the Men's Community Club in New Albin.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, John of La Crosse, and William serving in the Navy in San Diego; two daughters, Josephine of Shrevport, La., and Otillia of Iowa Falls; and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Laskaskie of Prairie du Chien.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, New Albin. The Rev. Robert Rahe will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Prairie du Chien.
Friends may call at the New Albin Funeral Chapel on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 8 p.m.
The Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, is in charge of arrangements.
