Waukon- Funeral services for John Herman, 42, who died at the family home, a mile north of Waukon, Friday, following a short illness, after a long period of ill health, were held Monday afternoon from the Martin brothers funeral parlors to the West Paint Creek church. The Rev. Oscar Haugstul, pastor of the Waterville Lutheran church officiated. Burial was in the nearby cemetery.

Mr. Herman was born April 7, 1903, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Herman. He was educated in the rural schools, and following his marriage to Alice Sanderson, lived on a farm northeast of Waukon.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Alton and Virgil; four daughters, Lillian, Shirley, Arlene and Margaret, the latter five months old; two brothers, Harold, Waukon, and Roland, on the home farm; and three sisters, Mrs. Ben Berger, of near Waukon, Mrs. Leo Mc_ally, La Crosse, Wis., and Mrs. __ilman Kirkeby, Grafton, Neb.
