Mrs. Elsie Schroeder, 76, Lansing, former New Albin resident, died Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital, La Crosse, Wis.

The former Elsie Arndt, she was born in Reno, Minn., Oct. 5, 1898, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Heiller) Arndt. She married Otto Somermeyer in April, 1916. They lived in Aberdeen, S.D., until 1922 when they moved to a farm in the New Albin area. He died in 1927. In October, 1952, she married Wesley Schroeder. He died in 1973.

Survivors are: three sons, Milton Somermeyer, New Albin; Robert Somermeyer, Madison, Wis.; and Orville Somermeyer, Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Bernice) Fritz, Lansing; two step-daughters, Mrs. Richard Royston, Mozomanie, Wis.; and Mrs. Steve Skalet, Mt. Horeb, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Arndt, Reno, Minn.; and five sisters, Mrs. Garland Rice, Mrs. Edward Dohlby and Mrs. Leo Faas, La Crosse, Wis.; Mrs. Esther Thimmesch, Dubuque; and Mrs. Henry Thimmesch, New Albin. Three brothers and two sisters have died.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin, the Rev. Clyde Lee officiating, with burial in New Albin Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the New Albin Funeral Chapel then at the church Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Potter-Haugen Funeral Home, Caledonia, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.
