Joseph R. Beardmore, 79, died Friday, Feb. 6 in his home in New Albin.

He was the son of William and Mary (Sadler) Beardmore. He was born Dec. 28, 1901 in Allamakee County.

He married Hilda Meyer on Nov. 8, 1928 in the Wheatland area.

They farmed in Houston County until 1969 when they retired to New Albin. He was a member of the Eitzen Creamery board and of the St. John's United Church of Christ board.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Gladys) Denstad of Caledonia, Minn.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leonard of Waukon. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and a sister.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in St. John's United Church of Christ with the Rev. Milton Kading officiating. Friends may call at the Potter-Haugen Funeral Home in Caledonia from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday and after 6 p.m. in the New Albin Chapel, and on Monday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
