Waukon- An Iowa State Representative and lawyer from Allamakee County died Tuesday night in Knoxville, Ia.

Elmer Pieper, 77, died in the Veteran's Hospital after a long illness.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Baake and Hanson Funeral Home in Waukon.

A long time Allamakee County resident and veteran of World War I, he started practicing law in Waukon in 1915 and was elected to the Iowa State legislature in 1938.

Surviving are three sons, Robert, Sioux Falls, S.D., Richard, Los Angeles, Calif., and Roger, Des Moines, Ia.; and three sisters.

Waukon- Funeral services for Elmer F. Pieper, 77, six-term member of the Iowa House of Representatives from Waukon who died Tuesday at a Knoxville, Ia., hospital, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Baake-Hanson Funeral Home in Waukon. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery at Waukon.

Mr. Pieper, a Waukon attorney, was superintendent of schools at Lineville, Ia., from 1911 to 1913, then obtained a law degree from the State University of Iowa. His last legislative session was in 1951.

He is survived by a son, Robert, of Sioux Falls, S.D.
