Services were held Wednesday, January 24 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Paul Lutheran church, Postville, for Mrs. William (Bertha) Kamp who died January 21 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville. The Rev. Norman Ullestad officiated.
Bertha Anna Louise Martens Kamp, daughter of Fred Martens and his wife Sophia Uters, was born October 3, 1880 in Germany. She was confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran church, Postville, April 10, 1895.
On October 4, 1901 she was united in marriage to William Kamp. They became the parents of five children. The couple farmed in the Castalia vicinity many years, then moved to Castalia. Upon her husband's death, she moved to Postville to be near family members, the lived alone following their death.
Preceding her in death were her husband; four sons, Edward, Arthur, Emil and Lloyd; her daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Velma) Nelson and three grandchildren.
Surviving are 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
