Gladys M. (McCormack) Peterson, 87, of La Farge, WI, and a resident of the Bethel Home in Viroqua, WI. She was born Dec. 10, 1913, in New Albin, IA, to Ben and Julie (Moore) McCormack. She grew up in New Albin and attended school there. In October of 1935, she was united in marriage to Clarence A. "Pete" Peterson in Waukon, IA, and he preceded her in death May 26, 1978. Gladys and Pete were proprietors of the Rockton Grocery Stores on both ends of Rockton, WI over the years. Gladys will be remembered for how she laughed and loved to play cards and share in the lives of her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol A. Donovan of La Farge, WI; grandchildren, Steve (Gail) Donovan, Shawn Donovan, Michael Donovan, all of La Farge; Barry (Beth) Donovan of Hillsboro, WI; seven great-grandchildren, Michelle, Chris, Cole, Brett, Brock, Ross and Jacob Donovan; foster daughter, Leona (John) Dillon of Viroqua, WI; a devoted sister-in-law, Julia Hisel of La Farge; and sister-in-law, Edna Peterson of Janesville, WI; a devoted cousin, Connie (Orris) Hegge and family of La Crosse, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

Gladys was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Burnett; brother, John McCormack; and son-in-law, Donnie Donovan of February 23, 1974.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Viroqua at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, with Fr. Steven Kachel officiating. Burial will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery near La Farge. Friends may call at the Seland-Huston Funeral Home in La Farge from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary prayed at 7 p.m. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
