Lucille Rose Colsch, age 71, of New Albin, Iowa, passed away Monday, July 24, 2000, at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing, Iowa following a long illness.

She was born on December 9, 1928, in Caledonia, MN, to Jessie and Mabel (Henry) Burroughs. She married Robert Charles Colsch on October 24, 1946, in Caledonia. They spent their lives farming in rural New Albin until their retirement in 1993. Since then they resided in a home they built next to the home farm.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Robert, and eight children, Dennis (Debbie) Colsch of Waterloo, Iowa, Roger (Mary Kay) Colsch of New Albin, Iowa, Linda (Ralph) Barrette of Stoddard, Joe (Denise) Colsch of New Albin, Iowa, Diane (John) Kohlmeier of Caledonia, Minn., Les and his fiance, Jenny Gibbs of New Albin, Iowa, Laura (Kyle) Leppert of Onalaska, Wis., Bruce (Angie) Colsch of New Albin, Iowa; one son-in-law, Carl Hanson of La Crosse, Wis.; 23 grand children; 14 great-grandchildren; four brothers; and five sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Debbie Hanson.

Services were held on Thursday, July 27, 2000, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin, and she was laid to rest in the church cemetery. Father Daniel Knipper and Reverend Merlin Egland officiated. Casketbearers were Dennis Colsch, Roger Colsch, Joe Colsch, Les Colsch, Bruce Colsch, and Carl Hanson. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home of Lansing assisted the family.

Lucille will be sorely missed by family and friends. May she rest in peace.
