Robert G. "Bob" Hanson, 71, of New Albin, Iowa, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Tweeten Health Services, Spring Grove, Minn.

He was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Winneshiek County, Iowa, to Grant and Ruth (Sanness) Hanson. On April 6, 1930, Bob was baptized at the Iowa River Lutheran Church, and he was confirmed at Big Canoe Lutheran Church by the Rev. William Hexom on Nov. 12, 1944. On Feb. 4, 1956, he married Marvis Wunnecka at Peace United Church of Christ in Crooked Creek, Minn. Bob farmed for some years and worked for Win neshiek County in road main tenance for 23 years. On Nov. 10, 1996, he and his wife moved to New Albin, Iowa. Bob enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River and driving his John Deere tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Marvis; four daughters, Gerry (Tony) Klug of Caledonia, Minn., Diana of La Crosse, Wis., Connie of Ridgeway, Iowa, and Mary Lou (Russell) Gerard of Spring Grove, Minn.; three grandchildren, Nathan and Emily Klug and Jordan Gerard; the family dog, "Skippy"; a brother, Don of Decorah, Iowa; two sisters, Doris (Sanford) Morken and Janice (Owen) Storlie, both of Spring Grove, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at 11 a.m. from Peace United Church of Christ, Crooked Creek, Minn. The Rev. William Reese will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are preferred.

Bob will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
