Helen Seifert, age 80, of Harpers Ferry, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at Prairie Health Care Center, Prairie du Chien, Wis. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 8 at St. Ann's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, with Fr. Trzil officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Paint Rock. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Helen was born January 9, 1923, in Ontonagon, Mich., the daughter of Arthur J. Richards and Blanche Woodberry. She married Walter Seifert in Milwaukee, Wis. They lived in Milwaukee before retiring to Harpers Ferry. Helen was a member of the Harpers Ferry American Legion Auxiliary. She took great pleasure in serving as the poppy chairman for 20 years for the Harpers Ferry Memorial Day parade. A special highlight for her was introducing the first grade poppy queens each year. Helen was also involved in the St. Ann's Rosary Society. Helen was thought of as a very loving and caring person by all of her relatives. Survivors include two sisters, Laura Pumplun and Connie (Harland) Luster. Helen's pride and joy were her nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband. Honorary casketbearers were the ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary. Casketbearers were Bill Luster, Steve Weipert, Randy Williams, Chris Luster, Bob Lacina, and Jeff Neumann.
