Luella M. Kiesau, 90, of Waukon, died Friday, November 14, 2003, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Monday, November 17 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements. Luella Madeline Hanson Kiesau was born February 19, 1913, on the Hanover Township, rural Waukon farm of her parents, Lewis and Mathilda (Quanrude) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church, attended rural Allamakee country schools, graduated from Spring Grove High School, and attended Upper Iowa University, where she received her teaching certificate. Luella taught school in the Hanover Township for several years.
On June 11, 1938, she married Calvin Kiesau at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church. After they were married, she worked for many years at the Allamakee County School Superintendent office in Waukon and later in Decorah for the tri-county schools superintendent office as a secretary.
Luella was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its ladies circles. She was also a member of the Searchlight Club and the local retired teachers group. Luella enjoyed playing cards, watching baseball, fishing, and visiting with friends. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Neil (Sharon) of Lansing and Curtis (Carolyn) of Wausau, Wis.; a daughter-in-law June Kiesau of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin; a son, Roger; a brother, Harris Hanson; and a sister, Mae Hanson,
