Death of a Former Waterville Buttermaker

Mrs. Otto Gleisner has received news of the death of her uncle, George Ferris, who will be remembered as a former buttermaker at Waterville.

His demise occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Ehlers of Silvis, Ill., following an extended illness.

Deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ferris, early residents of this county, who owned and operated the flour and grist mills known as the Ferris Mills on the Iowa river. He was born in Waukon on Dec. 13, 1857, and was nearing his 80th birthday.

Surviving are his widow, nee Miss Vinnie Bartley of this city, two daughters and a son, Mrs. Ehlers, mentioned above; Mrs. Bert Kirkley of Vienna, Calif., and Lloyd of Fort Dodge. Mrs. Hattie Clark, deceased was his only sister.

Burial took place at Silvis Monday afternoon.
