Harpers Ferry- Dr. Stephen C. Hogan, 68, a native of Harpers Ferry and a practicing physician and surgeon in Chicago the past 38 years, died at his home in Chicago Tuesday, Oct. 31, following a stroke.
A requiem high mass was offered in St. Thomas, the Apostle, Catholic church in Chicago Nov. 4, with burial in St. Mary's cemetery in Chicago.
Dr. Hogan was born on a farm near Harpers Ferry Dec. 26, 1881, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hogan. He received his elementary education in the rural schools and was graduated from a Valpariso, Ind., high school. He received his medical training at Northwestern University and the University of Vienna, Austria.
In 1913 he married Pearl Evans, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Stephen; one grandson; and four sisters, Mrs. E. J. Valley, Harpers Ferry, Mrs. Gertrude Bassler and Mrs. Leo Martin, both of Dubuque, and Mrs. Vera Valin, Sioux City; and five brothers, Joe, Frank and Adrian of Minneapolis, Tom of Dubuque and William of Hot Springs, N.M.
