Harpers Ferry- Funeral services for John O. Luster, 50, who died Thursday, Jan. 5, at his home in Harpers Ferry, were held Monday in St. Ann's Catholic church, the Rev. J. J. Costello officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery, Paint Rock.
The son of Mrs. Olive Luster, he was born on a farm near Harpers Ferry and lived his entire life in the vicinity. He served as a rural mail carrier out of Harpers Ferry and operated a combined meat market and hardware store. He married Luella Schellsmidt July 29, 1926
Besides his wife, Luster is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Cornelius (Mary) Kane Jr., La Crosse, Wis., and Myrtle, Madonna, Helen and Charlotte, all at home; six sons, Harlan, Ernest, Clarence, John, Charles and James, all of Harpers Ferry.
He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Olive Luster, Monona; two sisters, Mrs. Clem Schellsmidt, Harpers Ferry, and Mrs. Orvald Echard, Dubuque; four brothers, Harry, Monona, Earl, Harpers Ferry, Robert, Dubuque, and Minor, Cairo, Mich.; and one grandchild. His father died in 1927.
