Virgil C. Winters
Funeral services were held at St. Paul Lutheran church, Postville, at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 4, for Virgil Carlton Winters who died in the hospital at LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Tuesday, November 1. The Rev. Norris Swenson officiated.
Born in Allamakee County, Iowa, October 7, 1921, Virgil was the son of Simon Carlton (Carl) and Abbiegail Livingood Winters. He attended rural schools in Allamakee county. April 15, 1957 he was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, by the Rev. C. E. Witt.
August 18, 1957 he was married to Rosalie Ihde at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. They lived in Postville, then near Castalia and farmed near Luana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife and son Roger, four brothers, Lynn of Waukon, Clinton and Delbert, Waterville, Wesley of Luana and two sisters, Mrs. William (Doris) Walsh, Waukon and Mrs. Wesley (Genevieve) Rood of Oelwein.
Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
