Funeral services for Leonard S. Grotegut, 72, of Bettendorf, were held Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport with Rev. Douglas Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Leonard died Thursday, October 17, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He was born April 28, 1931, in Waukon, the son of Simon and Lydia (Rolfs) Grotegut. He married Carolyn "Timmy" Berg on June 26, 1954, in Dubuque. Leonard enjoyed fishing, woodcarving, crocheting, and wine-making. Survivors include his wife Timmy of Bettendorf; son Timothy (Teri) Grotegut of Shawnee, Kansas; daughter Carol (Craig) Balsar of Colona, Ill., Connie (Steve) Weston of Davenport, Cathy (David) Irmen of Davenport, and Christa (Gary) Berens of Davenport; nine grandchildren; a brother, Roland (Hazel) Grotegut of Decorah; a sister, Virginia (Ordell) Bjerke of Waukon; and a sister-in-law, Audrey Grotegut of Waukon. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ralph.
