Ralph Albrecht
Ralph Edgar Albrecht of Sumner died Nov. 8 at Community Memorial Hospital, Sumner. He was the step-father of Darwin Fritz of Postville and Willys Fritz of West Union.
Other survivors included his wife, Elsie; a sister, Gertrude (Mrs. Charles) Adoro, Sumner; 6 step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gordon and Elmer.
Services were Nov. 10 at St. John American Lutheran Church, Sumner. Burial was in St. John Cemetery there.
He was born July 14, 1905 at Aurora, IL., the son of John and Barette Kassmeyer Albrecht. In 1910 he moved with his parents to a farm northwest of Sumner. He attended Sumner High School.
Jan. 2, 1953 he married Elsie Borcherding Fritz at St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner. He was confirmed there Jan. 10, 1954.
After farming his parents' farm for many years, he purchased it. Purebred Holsteins were raised there and shown around the state. He held a number of offices in the Holstein-Friesian Association of Iowa.
He retired from farming in 1953 and worked until 1970 doing carpentry and masonry work in the Sumner area.
