Stephen E. Barron, 85, long time resident of Mason City, died Friday morning at the home of his son, Milton L. Barron, 917 Carolina SE. He had lived in Mason City 60 years and made his home at 424 8th SE.

Mr. Barron was born at Waukon, Aug. 22, 1875. He learned the bricklaying trade in Waukon and came to Mason City in 1901. As a bricklayer and stone mason, he had a part in the construction of the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse, the old City National Bank Building and the Park Inn, both hospitals and most of the city's school buildings.

He was married to Maryann Leonard Nov. 10, 1907, in St. Joseph's Church in Mason City.

In 1915 he began his employment with the Northwestern States Portland Cement Co. and remained with this company until his retirement in 1950.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frank C. (Doris) Clark, Brownsville, Tenn., and three sons, Clyde L. Barron, in the U.S. Army, and Milton L. and Stephen L. Barron of Mason City.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The McAuley-Scanlan-Peterson Funeral Home is in charge.
