Independence, Ia. - Mrs. Alfred Day, 57, died at the People's Hospital here Thursday where she had been a patient for seven weeks. She was taken to the hospital for an appendix operation, after which complications developed.
Funeral services will be held at Heege's Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be conducted by the Rev. H.H. Dill, pastor of the Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
As Hulda Holz, she was born at New Albin, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Holz on Feb. 12, 1881. She spent her early life there and later she attended the German School at Hokah, Minn. She was a graduated nurse from the Independence State Hospital and she was married here June 20, 1907 to Alfrey Day (sic).
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Charles McGinnis of Chicago, and Gladys of Independence; a son, Ralph of Independence; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Thompson, Jr. and Mrs. Charles Irons, both of New Albin; and two brothers, Otto and Oswald Holz, both of Dubuque.
