DEATH CLAIMS LOUIS GOEKE
Was Resident Of Allamakee County Sixty-One YearsLouis Goeke died at his home in this city last Thursday, at the age of 71 years. He had been in failing health the past three or four years.
Mr. Goeke was born at Manitowoc, Wisconsin, July 4, 1860, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Goeke. When eleven years old he came to Iowa with his parents, and settled in Ludlow township. He received his early education in the rural schools.
On November 15, 1893 Mr. Goeke was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Elizabeth Deremore. One daughter, Mrs. Erwin M. Phipps, was born to them, who with the wife and mother are left to mourn his death.
In 1914 Mr. and Mrs. Goeke moved from their farm to this city, where they have since made their home.
Besides his wife and daughter he is survived by five brothers, and one sister, Charles and Ernest Goeke of Baxter, Fred of Waukon, Conrad of Postville, William and Mrs. August Meyer of Nebraska. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and thirty nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the family home Saturday afternoon, conducted by Reverend L.L. Bond assisted by Reverend R. L. Van Nice, with burial in Oakland cemetery.
