Herman Sieg
Herman Sieg, son of Henry and Elvina Sieg, was born April 12, 1888 at Waterville and passed away at the Retirement Center at Decorah, August 5, 1965, at the age of 77 years.
Mr. Sieg was educated in the rural schools of this county and grew to manhood here. He had lived in this vicinity his entire life.
In 1915 he was united in marriage to Vida White. To this union was born four children: Verna, Mrs. Emmett Schroeder of Calmar; Vivian, Mrs. Forrest Brainard, of Postville; Norma, Mrs. Clarence Brainard, of Luana and Bernard, of Monona. He was engaged in farming most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one stepson, Gordon. Besides his children he leaves to mourn his passing one brother, John Sieg of Waukon, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services were from Martins Funeral Home in Waukon, Saturday, August 7, at 2:00, with Rev. Curtis H. Webster officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

There is conflicting information as to how Sieg/Seig should be spelled so have included both spellings. In the obit of his wife, Vida, the surname is spelled Seig
