Elfriede Sieg
Funeral services for Elfriede Sieg were held Monday, February 10, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. in Schutte Funeral Home at Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Elizabeth Yates officiated. The organist was Joan Martins. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery near Volney, Iowa.
Elfriedge Sieg, daughter of Ludwig and Hermine (Neubauer) Zeiner, was born June 12, 1919 at Ludwigsstadt, Germany. She passed away at her home in Postville, Iowa, on February 6, 1997 at the age of seventy-seven years, seven months and twenty-four days.
On march 5, 1950 she was married to Bernard Sieg at Ludwigsstadt, Germany. To this union, four children were born. Elfriede and Bernard operated the "Stadium Cafe" in Monona for many years.
Elfriede was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bernard, and a sister Erika
She is survived by her three sons, Gordon and wife, Sandra, of Bettendorf, IA, Roger and Dennis, both of Postville, a daughter, Rose Marie, and husband, Dan Schober, of Apple Valley, MN, five grandsons, Gregory, Alex and Erik Sieg, and Nicholas and Tyler Schober. She is also survived by a brother, Helmut Ziener of Ludwigsstadt, Germany, and a sister, Lilly, and husband, Joseph Wolf, of Kronach, Germany.
Casket bearers were Gordon, Gregory, Alex, Erik, Roger and Dennis Sieg and Dan, Nicholas and Tyler Schober.
