Postville, Ia. - Funeral services for Carl Miller, 86, retired farmer who died suddenly Friday afternoon, were held here Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Schutte Funeral Home to St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 2:30 o'clock.
The Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig, pastor, officiated and burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons: Cloy, Roland, and Vernon Miller, Keith and James Gregg, and Bill Smith.
Mr. Miller was born Feb. 1, 1857, in Germany, where he was married in 1882 to Miss Louise Michael. In 1888 they came to the Postville vicinity and started farming northeast of Postville. They moved to town 25 years ago. His wife died Oct. 10, 1928.
He is survived by four sons: August and Henry, both of Postville; William of Waukon, and Louis of Moline, Ill.; five daughters, Mrs. James L. Gregg and Mrs. Wilbert Wilkie, both of Postville; Mrs. Howard Wycoff, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mrs. Amanda Smith, of Waterloo, and Mrs. Frank Bellows, of Dubuque; 13 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
