Samuel P. Twite passed away last Thursday evening in his apartment in Milwaukee, Wis., following a long illness with heart trouble.
Deceased was born Oct. 24, 1880 in Houston County, Minn., a son of the late Peter and Marion Twite. He received his education in the rural schools. On May 8, 1900 he was united in marriage to Julia Agnes Higgins in St. John's church n Caledonia, establishing their home in New Albin. Mr. Twite possessed a very quiet disposition and had a wide acquaintanceship as he was a prominent business man here for 21 years, retiring a year and a half ago, going to Milwaukee to make his home.
He is survived by the following children: R.E. Twite, Brownsville, Minn.; Mrs. A. (Mary) Silber, Mrs. M. (Eva) Dumkee, Mrs. J. (Gladys) Slescke and John of Milwaukee, Wis.; Linus, with the Merchant Marines, stationed on the East Coast; two sisters, Dora of Canada and Mrs. Hans Steigan of Dakota, and two brothers, Ole and Peter of Caledonia, Minn.; also five grandchildren. His wife and twin sons preceded him in death.
The remains arrived here Saturday afternoon and were taken to the Fitschen Undertaking Parlors. The funeral was held Monday morning at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. L. Hayes, pastor, officiating. Burial was in St Joseph's Cemetery west of town. Casket bearers were J.W. Kelly, G.H. Welper, I. Imhoff, Simon Medicus, John A. Schulze and Peter A. Whalen.
Out of town relatives and friends in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Twite, Brownsville, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. A. Silber, Mrs. M. Dumkee, Mrs. J. Slescke, John Twite, Miss Mary Lamek, all of Milwaukee, Wis.; Attorney Virgil Meyer of Chariton, Iowa; Mrs. D.J. Ryan, Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Higgins and Mrs. Eva O'Brien, Caledonia, Minn.

We extend our sincere thanks to the many friends who so kindly assisted us by word and deed in our recent bereavement, the death of our beloved father. Also we wish to express our appreciation for the spiritual bouquets and floral offerings.

There are a few items that the paper had wrong -- I guess that's probably true with most obits.
His mother's name was Marit, not Marion; his daughter Eva's last name was spelled Dumke; his daughter Gladys' last name was Sleske; his sister
Dora was Mrs John Myhre; his sister Inger was Mrs Hans Stigen - and she also lived in Canada, not Dakota; he did have a half brother, Ole in Caledonia - but his brother Peter was in Anoka, MN - it's my guess that whoever wrote the obit had heard that Sam had a brother Peter, and must have guessed that it was the Peter Twite who lived in Caledonia -but the Caledonia Peter Twite
was Ole's son.
