Waukon, Ia. - Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church at Rossville for James E. Rush, 77, lifelong resident of Allamakee County, who died Thursday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ethel Walters at Rossville, following a 10-year illness.

The last rites will be conducted by the Rev. August Grossheim, pastor of the local Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Rossville Cemetery.

Mr. Rush was born Dec. 31, 1862 in Franklin Township, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rush. He was married June 27, 1887 to Amanda Denning of Rossville and they immediately established their home on a farm in that vicinity. Mrs. Rush died Feb. 2, 1932, since which time he lived with his children.

Surviving are six children: Ray of Jefferson Township, Jess of Lansing, Dewey of Franklin, Mrs. Vernie Stahl and Mrs. Walters, both of Rossville, and Mrs. Blanche Thornton of Postville; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Roderick of Philmouth, Ore., and Mrs. Malinda Mosher and Mrs. Laura Rose, both of Chamberlain, S.D.; 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Rush was a charter member of the local Modern Woodmen.
