PLATTEVILLE, WIS. - Clement T. "Clem" Bardon, 79, of Cuba City, formerly of Platteville, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville, surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St Augustine's Catholic Church, Platteville, with the Rev. Charles Schluter oficiating. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 42 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5274 at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call fro 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville, where there will be a Knights of Columbus scripture wake service at 3 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.Mr. Bardon worked for the Dubuque Packing Co. for 44 years, retiring in October 1986.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1924, in Dubuque, son of George and Elizabeth (Dillon) Bardon. He married Rita Kernan on Aug 21, 1948, at St Ann's Catholic Church, Harpers Ferry, Iowa.
He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 during World War II, where he was stationed inNew Guinea and the Phillipine Islands.
He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1386 and an honorary life member of Monsignor Gray 4th Degree Assembly 2424, where he was the faithful navigator and commander of the honor guard. He was also a member of St Augustine's University Catholic Church, Platteville, the Southwest Vocations Club, a life member of Foreign Wars Post 5274 and a former member of Local 150 United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
He was very active in the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Deputy Grand Knight and Grand Knight for the Lancaster (Wis.) Council 6480 was inaugurated, he served as financial secretary and was at the same time appointed district deputy for four years.
He enjoyed cooking, bowling and pitching horseshoes.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Rita, of Cuba City; six children, Jane (Tim) traver, of Newbury Park, calif., Denise (William) Robinson, of Parker, Colo., Ed (Donna) Bardon of DeForest, Julie (mike) Morse, of West Salem, Virginia (Randy) VanNatta, of Platteville, and Alan (Rene') Bardon, of Dayton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Josh and Jenny Traver, Jon and Danielle Robinson, Jeremy, Jay and Jared Bardon, Eric and Amy Morse, Molly and Mallory VanNatta and Matthew and Ashley Bardon; a brother Vinvent Bardon, of Lawndale, Calif.; and a sister, Helen Kohnen, of Dubuque.He was prededed in death by his parents; three brothers, Milton, Kenneth and Russell; and two sisters, Mary Jeanne and Rose marie.
