WHEATLAND Funeral Liturgy for Patrick Leo Kernan, 75, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St Patrick's Catholic Church by Fr. Joseph Fraher, the celebrant.
Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Internment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.
Mr. Kernan died June 11, 1993, at his home in Wheatland. He was born April 21, 1918, in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, the son of John Joseph and Ellen (Cota) Kernan. He was raised and educated in the Harpers ferry area. He came to Wyoming in 1933 and worked on the Martell Ranch.
During World War II he entered the U.S. Army, serving in the Phillipines. After his discharge he returned to Wheatland and started his beekeeping business.
On Sep. 17, 1946, he married Katherine E. McGuire in Wheatland.
Mr. Kernan was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing carpentry work. During the winter he worked some for Eldon Randall.
He is survived by three children, William J. Kernan, Celia Hermann and Mary McDowell, all of Wheatland; two brothers: Francis and Gerald Kerman both of Lansing, iowa; five sisters, Alice Conway of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, Genevieve Mohn of Lansing, Iowa, Marguerite Schulte of Waukon, Iowa, Sister Mary Marcella McGuire of Wheatland, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, on March 29, 1981.
Memorials to St Joseph's Children Home in Torrington or the McDonald House in denver, Colo. would be appreciated by the family.
Visitation will be Monday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Platte Funeral Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
