Postville Herald, Thursday, 10 February 1921.
Tonette Josephine Ruckdaschel, (nee Halverson) daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Halver Halverson, was born October 16, 1891, in Clermont, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran Church at Clermont. On June 25, 1913, she was united in marriage to Victor Ruckdaschel of Postville. This union was blessed with three children- Meril aged six years, Ileta aged five years, and Eunice, born January 19th, 1921.
In her maidenhood she was always a very active church worker, was a member of the choir and of the Y.P. Society.
She passed away at Postville Hospital last Friday evening, aged 29 years, three months and 18 days.
The death of Mrs. Ruckdaschel has elicited many expressions of sympathy. While death is ever an unwelcome guest it seems especially so when a young wife and mother is called just when the husband and children need them most; why this should be so we cannot at present understand, but perhaps in the bye and bye when the mists are cleared away we may be able to fathom the mystery and discover that an All Wise God did what was best.
She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband and three children her parents and the following brothers and sisters; Albert Halverson, Clermont; Martin Halverson, Clermont; Dorf Halverson at home; Mrs. Theo. Kjose, Elgin; Mrs. E. A. Hanson, Oelwein; Mrs. Ed Schroeder, Postville; Maud and Alice at home.
The funeral was held from the Lutheran church in this city at two o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. Schmidt. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
Those from out of town to attend the funeral were: Ernest and John Ruckdaschel and Mr. and Mrs. Zwick of Staplehurst, Neb.; George Benz of Lawler; Mrs. Wm. Lester of Goodell; Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Hanson of Oelwein; Mrs. Wm. Fuelling, Mrs. Geo. Glawe and Mrs. John Vogt of Farmersburg; Mr. and Mrs. Theo Kjosa of Elgin; Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Halvorson; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Halvorson, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Halvorson, Dorf and Alice Halvorson and Mrs. John Johnson of Clermont.
