Permelia Ann, eldest daughter of Lewis and Mary Segrist, was born Oct. 27, 1858, in Allamakee county, Iowa, and departed this life Jan. 5th, 1911, aged 52 years, 2 months and 8 days.
On December 5, 1875, she was united in marriage to Philip L. Gordanier, since tht time they have resided near Hardin, Iowa. To this union were born seven children, five girls: Jane Caroline (Mrs. W. O. Thornton,) Rose May (Mrs. J. M. Land), Annetta Viola (Mrs. Geo. Leet), Ethel Pearl (Mrs. G. F. Richards, of Vancuver, Washington), Cecil L. (Mrs. Jess Uhl), two boys: Horace Philip and Lynn S.
During the winter of 1895 Mrs. Gordanier was converted, and united with the M. E. Church in Hardin. Being a social and fraternal nature, and knowing that this world is full of sorrow and misfortune which loving hearts and willing hands must ever strive to overcome, she also united with the M. B. A. lodge at Luana, Mary 27, 1899. We believe she has earnestly tried to live up to the high religeous and moral standard of her church and lodge.
Besides the aged mother, her loving sister and brother, her true and noble husband and devoted children, she leaves a large circle of friends to mourn her departure.
One less at home!
The charmed circle broken; a dear face
Missed day by day from its accustomed place;
But cleansed and saved and perfected by grace,
One more in Heaven!
One more at home!
That home where separation can not be;
That home whence none is missed eternally;
Lord Jesus, grant us all a place with Thee,
At home in Heaven!
