Postville Review, Friday, 10 January 1913.
Carrie May Dawson was born near Postville, Iowa, Nov. 18, 1870, and died at her home in this city Jan. 1, 1913. She united with the Postville M.E. church early in life and while health permitted was a faithful attendant and worker in the same. During the lifetime of her mother and father she was an exceptionally unselfish and devoted daughter, giving up the most of her life for them.
Carrie was a patient sufferer for many years. Her friends often wondered at her cheerfulness after weeks of pain and great physical weakness. She often expressed a desire for a union with loved ones gone before. Yet in the intervals of partial relief from suffering and weakness enjoyed a measure of activity and always appreciated the kindness of relatives and friends. She leaves behind one sister, Mrs. James Daws, the only one now remaining of the immediate family, her father, mother and two sisters having preceded her into the heavenly world. It can truthfully be said she leaves behind a host of friends to mourn and to miss her.
