Mrs. Arthur Behrens, whose maiden name was Meier, was born in Garnavillo, Iowa, Oct. 1, 1867, and died at her home northeast of Postville about 11 o'clock Sunday evening, Sept. 28, 1913, aged but three days less than 46 years. April 9, 1882, she was confirmed and confessed her faith in the triune God, and promised to be faithful to God until death. She was a good church-going Christian and very seldom missed being at the house of worship on Sunday morning. Feb. 4, 1892, she was married to Arthur Behrens, and to this union were born two sons and a daughter. For the last year she was president of the Lutheran Frauen-Verein. Her death was caused by a paralytic stroke. Her loss is keenly felt by the family, who on Wednesday stood by the open grave of her sister-in-law in a neighboring community, and the congregation and Frauen-Verein also grieve that she is no more. She is survived by her husband and three children, her aged father, two brothers and four sisters and a host of friends.

The funeral was held from the Lutheran church Thursday afternoon, Oct. 2nd, at two o'clock, Rev. R. Kuehne officiating. The Frauen-Verein attended in a body. Interment in Postville cemetery.
