Mrs. Charles H. Huebner, 70, for many years a resident of this community, passed away Saturday morning following several years of ill health. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon in St. Paul's Lutheran church with the Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig officiating and burial was in Postville cemetery.
As Anna Elizabeth Walther she was born in Unter Alba, Sachsen-Weimar, Eisenach, Germany, on March 31, 1869, the daughter of Adam and Christine Kohlermann Walther. She was first married to Fred Miller at Clayton Center on September 30, 1888, and to this union two sons were born, William and Fred. Following the passing of Mr. Miller she was married to Charles H. Huebner on December 16, 1891, at Elkader. Five children were born to this union, Carl, Mabel, Max, Marie and George. Mabel passed away at the age of 16 months and Max and Marie died in infancy.
For several years the family lived in Mederville and at Elkader before coming to Grand Meadow township where they lived on a farm until they moved to Postville to make their home. Mr. Huebner passed away January 1, 1937.
Mrs. Huebner is survived by her sons, William Miller of Elgin; Fred J. Miller, Postville; Carl and George Huebner, Postville; the step-children, Mrs. John Gruel of Harvard, Illinois, and Rudolph and Henry Huebner of Postville; four sisters, Mrs. Louis Stillbaum and Mrs. L. D. Smith of Elkader, Mrs. John Falb of Elgin, Mrs. Fred C. Schulttz, Postville; one brother, William Walther, of Elkader, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.
