Postville Review, Fri., 12 May 1916.

Charles Albert Hinman was born in Clayton County, Iowa, May 5, 1857, and died at his home in Hardin, Iowa, Tuesday, May 9, 1916, aged 59 years and 4 days., his death following a four weeks illness from pleuro-pneumonia.

Nov. 18, 1882, he was married to Lillie Ridenour, also of Clayton county, and to this union six children were born - Clifford E. of New London, Wis.; Mrs. Charles E. Smith of Villard, Minn.; Clyde W. of Luana; Freddie L. who died in infancy; Mrs. Lloyd H. Pearson and Harry of Hardin.

To have been a continuous resident of the county of his birth during all of his 59 years is unusual, and the fact that during all that time he has held the confidence and esteem of his neighbors and friends speaks more for the high character of the deceased than any tribute feeble words could express. He was honorable and upright in all his dealings, a good citizen, neighbor and friend, a devoted husband, a kind and indulgent father, and few men there are who had greater love for home, which was the one place he could always be found when his days work was done unless his chores called him for a time too far away.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters, his venerable parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Hinman of Hardin, three brothers and three sisters. his death marks the first break in the family circle of the Hinman family and is a record of longevity worthy of note.

The funeral was held from the Hardin M.E. church Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. P.M. Phillips of Postville, and was largely attended. Interment was made in the Hardin cemetery.
