Miss Christena Steele was born in Jo Davies county, Ill., April 26, 1852, and died at the home of her brother, Joseph Steele, with whom she has resided since the death of her parents some years ago. Nov. 1, 1856, she came with her parents, brother Joseph and sister Barbara and settled on a farm in Post township, Allamakee county, where she resided continuously until the time of her death. She is survived by her brother Joseph and a number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held at St. Bridget's Catholic church, Postville, April 5, 1916. Her nephew, Rev. F. B. Steele of Cedar Rapids, sang requiem mass, and Rev. J. J. Clune preached an eloquent sermon. Interment at Clermont.
