Funeral services for Charlotte E. Steva, 67, were held Saturday, April 5, 1980 at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. The Rev. Dennis E. Morey officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements, with burial in the Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Charlotte Steva, was the daughter of Charles and Anna (Smith) Hale, born in Waukon, Nov. 17, 1912. She passed away April 2, 1980 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Methodist Church in Waukon, and graduated from Waukon High School, Waukon Junior College and Iowa State University. On Jan. 26, 1947, she married Gerald Steva at the home of her parents in Waukon. They moved to a farm near Postville and lived there since 1950. Charlotte became a member of the Community Presbyterian Church April 2, 1953 and was an active member of the United Presbyterian Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marsha, in infancy.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Nancy (Mrs. John Wachter) of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; a son, William at home; 2 grandchildren; and 3 brothers, John Hale of Portland, Ore., Dudley Hale of Decorah, and Nathan Hale of Waukon.
