Charlotte May Protsman Clark

Charlotte May Protsman Clark, 87, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012.

She was born to Robert and Johanna Protsman in Lansing October 30, 1925.

Anyone who knew her knew she loved life and never wanted to miss a thing. Upon moving to the area from Madison at the time, she became a big part of the local Homemakers Club. She was very proud of attaining 1,200 volunteer hours from the Columbia County Nursing Home. From there she went on to become and work as a CNA for close to 30 years.

She was quite an enthusiast when it came to the Columbia County Fair each year, entering and earning dozens of ribbons in various categories of antiques, flowers, photography and her own artwork. Her writing and poetry also had a special place. Belonging to several groups, Writers Write, Pauquette Wordcrafters, Writers at the Portage and Fellowship of Poets, she had earned many awards and had pieces published in various books, calendars and the Portage Daily Register. She worked for the Family Resource Center for several years before finally retiring at 80. Her motto for life was to be “Forever a Kid.”

She is survived by her sons, James (Louise) Clark and Paul Clark; daughters, Barbara (Frank) Kivett and Julie Clark; a stepson, Ronald Clark; her brother, Williard (Darlene) Protsman; and her grandchildren and great-granddaughters, along with many nieces and nephews, who will also miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith in 1985; brothers, John and James Protsman; her sister, Lois; and an infant sister.

A special thank-you all the caring staff at her recent home in Rio, At Home Again Assisted Living as well as the wonderful group with Southern Care Hospice. Charlotte cared for and respected each and every one during her most trying part of life.

A memorial service was held at noon Saturday, December 29 at Smith Funeral Home, Pardeeville.
A celebration of life and burial at Oak Hill Cemetery will be held in Lansing at a later date.
