Richard W. Fruechte, 86, of Waukon, died Friday, December 28, 2012 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Monday, December 31, 2012 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Samantha Houser officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Richard Wallace Fruechte was born October 1, 1926 to Ernest, Sr. and Dorothy (Hickey) Fruechte in Lanesboro, MN. He lived with his family in Houston, MN before moving to New Albin, where Richard grew up and attended school. Richard worked at Fruechte Livestock as a bookkeeper, and then went to work at the Interstate Producers Livestock Association sale barn in Waukon as an office manager and bookkeeper. He retired in the early 1990s.
Being very number oriented, Richard loved making charts and graphs and investing in the stock market. He also loved spending time with family, and will be remembered as a good man.
Richard is survived by his sister-in-law Lorna Fruechte of Waukon; nephew Donald Fruechte of Waukon; and his cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ernie Fruechte; and nephew David Fruechte.
Casketbearers were Donald Fruechte, Steve Bakke, Kenny Baumler, Lawrence Benda, Don Kruse and Dale Roney.
