Postville Review, Fri., 13 Jan. 1905.

James Rankin, whose serious condition we mentioned last week, passed away on Saturday morning last at his home in this city, and was buried on Tuesday in the Carrithers cemetery. He has been a resident of this section for many years and a large circle of friends will be grieved to hear of his demise. Obituary next week.

Note: A full obituary was not found. An Item in the same paper and date as this death notice relates an item from the previous Tuesday's Waterloo Reporter that details how Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Lambert were prevented from attending the funeral of Mrs. Lambert's father, James Rankin, in Postville, by a snowstorm.

The Woodmansee burial book lists: Rankin, James 1829 / 1-7-1905 and Rankin, Sarah 12-25-1862 / 6-28-1897 Mrs. James. They are both in Smith cemetery, Allamakee county.

Jas. Ranken died at his home in Postville Saturday morning after a long illness. Mr. Ranken used to be a resident in our neighborhood.
