Once more a gloom and sadness has fallen upon one of our happy homes. This time the cold icy fingers of death have laid hold and claimed as its own, Charles E., only son of Mr. and Mrs. J.T Wier.
The deceased, at the time of his death, last Friday morning, was a resident of Miline, Ill., where for the past six months he has been manager of a Keely institute, and was aged 35 years and 10 days, being born in Rushford, N.Y. Sept. 17, 1860.
Charley was a loving friend and a kind and cheerful associate, well liked by all who knew him, and the name and memory of one whose life seemed so short shall long be remembered, especially by a fond mother, who so dearly loved him. Would that we had wods to soothe her sorrow, but only time and the Great Father can wipe away the falling tears and bring rest and submission in a loss that wrings the heart with mute and pulseless agony.
They arrived Saturday and a large host of friends followed the remains to their last resting place. - Allamakee Journal, Lansing, Iowa.
Charley will be remembered by his host of friends in this vicinity, and who were greatly shocked by hearing of his death. The mother has the entire sympathy of the community in her sad bereavement. Deceased was a nephew of Mrs. C.M. Wood of this place.
