George Senholz Passes At Griswold October 21
George Senholz, 78, a former Postville resident, but for the past 50 years residing at Griswold, passed away on Tuesday of last week in the hospital at Red Oak where he had been a patient for five weeks.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Methodist church in Griswold, and interment was in the cemetery at Lewis.
Mr. Senholz was born near Garnavillo January 7, 1869, as the son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Senholz, who later became Postville residents. After farming in Clayton county, he took up the carpenter trade and followed this until moving to Griswold where he took over a farm.
He is survived by two sons, Carl, who resides on the home farm, and Earl, who is managing editor of Boone News-Republican; also one brother, Charles, of Postville, and three sisters, Mrs. William Thoma and Mrs. Chris Salzgeber of Postville, and Mrs. H. L. Meyer of Castalia, and two grandchildren. He is also survived by Elizabeth Brown, who was reared in the Senholz home and now a student at Cornell College.
