Mrs. Al (Ruby) Fitschen, 93, of Lansing, died on Wednesday, August 16, at Thornton Manor nursing home.
She was born on June 20, 1885, in Hillsboro, Dakota Territory, to Clarence and Rena (May) Steele.
She married Alfred Fitschen on November 14, 1904 in La Crosse, and they lived there for many years.
Mrs. Fitschen was on the board of directors of the La Crosse YWCA and was a member of the Twentieth Century Club. She was a past matron of the Lansing Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Michael Fitschen, of Dubuque, and Mrs. Jerry (Janice) Eldridge, of Brookfield, Wis.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976 and by a daughter, two sons, two brothers and two sisters.
Private family services were held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home in Lansing. Rev. John J. Hall officiated at the services and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve Haas, Milton Wilde, Al Wiczek, Jerry Eldridge, Michael Fitschen and Hinkley Jenks.
