Henry August Werhan was born in Cook Co., Ill., 31 Dec. 1849. At four years of age he came to Forest Mills, Allamakee Co., and on 15 March 1875 he was married to Miss Emma Segrist. To them were born 5 sons and 2 daughters, all of whom are living.

In the spring of 1890 he removed to Lincoln twp., Winneshiek Co., where he resided at the time of his death. Three years ago commenced the disease which ended his life on 15 Dec. 1896.

Mr. Werhan was a good neighbor, honest toiler and esteemed by all who knew him.

The funeral took place at Cresco, Rev. Williams, of Ridgeway, officiating.
