Rites Held Monday for Wilfred Smith

Wilfred Smith, 78, of Waukon, died on Friday, July 21, in the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

He was born on October 13, 1899, in North Dakota to Fred and Elizabeth (Hahn) Smith. He moved to Allamakee county as a child. He married Myrtle Burroughs in Waukon in 1918. She preceded him in death in 1952. Two sons also preceded him in death.

Survivors are one son, Kenneth, of Waukon; one daughter, Mrs. Velma Mack, of New Albin; 24 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one brother, Meryl, of La Crosse, Wis.; and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Kumph of Dorchester and Mrs. Mae Haugstad of Caledonia, Minn.

Services were held on Monday at ll a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Rev. John Hall officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, rural Dorchester.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to thank everyone who gave floral offerings, sent cards, gave memories and food and for the kind words, thoughts and deeds at the time of our father, grandfather, and brother, Wilfred Smith, death.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Veterans Memorial Hospital, to Rev. John Hall for his comforting words, and to the singers and organist. A special thanks to Mrs. Lyle Goetzinger, Mrs. Otto Luttchens, and Mrs. Esther Schroeder for serving lunch after the funeral.

Your thoughtfulness and kindness will long be remembered.
