Mrs. JAMES (Lucinda Smith) FORT 1816-1889
--Mrs. James Fort died of dropsy at their farm residence two miles north of Waukon Tuesday morning, at the age of 72 years 6 months and 3 days. Her maiden name was Lucinda Smith, daughter of Charles Smith, and was born in Belmont county, Ohio, Aug. 22d, 1816. In 1822 she moved with her parents to Henry county, Ind., where she was married to James Fort March 8th, 1832. Two children blessed their union, Charles and Delilah, who survive her. She united with the Crooked Creek, Ind., Baptist church in 1838. She became a resident of this county in 1853. She was a kind hearted, Christian woman, noble wife and mother. Her last words, addressed to her granddaughter Ella Fort, were "Good night!" . The funeral takes place at the residence at 2 p.m. today. Rev. D. N. Mason officiating.
