A GOOD WOMAN GONE.
On Monday evening last at about 3:30 o'clock, Mrs. Ara Candee, residing about a mile this side of Hardin, passed peacefully away after a brief illness, aged 7(3 or 8) years. Mrs. Candee was among the oldest settlers of that vicinity and was known by all as a kind but unpretentious woman. She leaves to mourn her loss an aged husband, two sons and a daughter, all of whom were present at the funeral, which occurred at the home on Wednesday morning, June 8, at 10 o'clock. Interment in the Luana cemetery.

Cordelia Tiny, was born in Mich., Oct. 14, 1830. She was united in marriage to Ara Candee in 1850 at Whiteford, Mich. In 1852 they emigrated to Iowa and in 1855 they moved to Minnesota, residing there for a short time, when they again returned to Iowa and settled in Monona, later moving to Hardin where they have since resided. Four children were born to this union. Florence, who died eleven years ago; Mrs. Van Gorder of Minneapolis, MN.; Roger of Wells, MN; and Asa, with whom they have lived for several years.
Mrs. Candee's life was one of loving toil and self sacrifice. Although lame for many years she bore her affliction patiently, always ready and willing to help others. It can truly be said of her she was a friend of all. Her last illness was short, lasting but three days, caused by heart trouble, and on June 1, 1903, she passed on.
