Postville Review, Fri., 28 Oct. 1910. Condensed from a larger obit.
George Worthington Bellows, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bellows, was born June 27, 1857, at Bristol, Indiana, and died at his home in Monona, Iowa, Oct. 18, 1910, at the age of 53 years, 3 months and 16 days, his death being caused by a growth in the passage to the stomach.
At the age of 8 years he came with his parents to Iowa, settling at Hardin, in Allamakee county, where he spent the most of his life, with the exception of 5 years residence in Minnesota and 2 years in Kansas. In March of last year he moved to Monona.
On Oct. 24, 1878, he was united in marriage with Miss Hattie E. Evans, at Hardin. To them were born two daughters, Jennie E, who died at Hazel Run, Minn., and Iowa, who with her mother administered all the tender care that could possibly be given during his illness. He is also survived by his father, Jerry Bellows, of Woodsocket, S.D.; and one brother, L. A. Bellows, of Postville, IA.
Mr. Bellows united with the Protestant Episcopal church at Morton, Minn., and has been a consistent adherent to its teachings. He was a man of true principles, a kind husband and father, a dutiful son and true brother. In the business world he was a man among men, honest and upright, ever ready to do by others as he would be done by. He was a member of the M.W.A. and of Brotherly Love Lodge No. 204 A.F. & A. M., of Postville, and held in highest esteem by all his brethren.
The funeral was held last Sunday at the M.E. church, Rev. J. B. Bird officiating. Interment in the cemetery at Luana, under Masonic auspices.
