Postville Herald, Thur., 30 Oct. 1930. Condensed from a longer obit.

The funeral of Miss Lila Harris, youngest daughter of S. A. Harris, who met death in an auto accident last Saturday afternoon, was held from the Community church in this city on Wednesday, the Rev. R. F. Galloway officiating, and was one of the largest gatherings of its kind ever held in Postville.

She was born in Post township, Allamakee county, December 13, 1890, where she grew to womanhood. In her girlhood she attended the Bethel U.B. church of which she was a member. She attended school in Lybrand, Postville High School, graduating with the class of 1908 leading her class. In 1912 she graduated from Leander Clark college at Toledo, Iowa.

She spent many years of her life teaching in Postville, Cresco, Lennox, and later lived on a claim in Texas where she also taught.

Her mother's death in 1910 brought her home where she kept house for her father and mothered her three nieces, Jeanne, Kathyrn and Marjorie Ruth; she also cared for her sister, Leone, in her several illnesses, nursed her father thru pneumonia, and constantly looked out for the health and welfare of her family and friends.

She is survived by her father, one sister, Leone McGuire, and three nieces.

The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful.

Interment was made in Postville cemetery by the side of her mother.
