Mrs. Edward C. Schroeder, Nora Wilke, was born March 2, 1893, the daughter of Carl Wilke and Louise Schultz Wilke, in Clayton county, Iowa. She was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on November 28, 1893, and confirmed in her christian faith on April 12, 1908, and remained a life long member of the church.

She attended school at Hardin and lived all her life in this area. She was married to Edward C. Schroeder on November 21, 1917. They farmed in Allamakee and Winneshiek county until 1947, when they moved to Postville to make their home.

To this union were born four children: Delores Mae, who died in infancy, Milton of Luana, Darlene, Mrs. Richard Meyer, of Postville, and Merlin of San Francisco, California.

Mrs. Schroeder had been in ill health for the past 15 years, and passed away suddenly of a heart attack on May 25, 1960, at the age of 67 years, two months and 23 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Delores Mae; one sister, Lena, who died in Germany; and one brotther, Fred of Postville.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Milton and Merlin; one daughter, Darlene; five grandchildren; one brother, William Wilke of Guttenberg; four sisters, Mrs. Ella Bruehan, Marquette, Bertha, Mrs. Fred Kruse, Monona, Edna, Mrs. Lester Harnack, Postville and Mrs. Selma Johnson, Waukon, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville, on May 31 at 1;30 p.m. Burial was in the Postville cemetery with the Rev. Charles E. Witt officiating.
