Two separate paragraphs describe the death of this child. See the note at the bottom.

A nine months old child of Eugene Read, of Forest Mills, died last Saturday of cholera infantum. Everybody sympathizes with the afflicted.

The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Reed died Saturday morning. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. S. W. Pollard Sunday afternoon at the Evergreen School house.

Read - At the home of his parents, near Forest Mills, Allamakee county, Iowa, Saturday, July 2d, 1898, of cholera infantum, Luverne Leonard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene A. Read; aged 8 months and 4 days.

Our friends have the sympathy of the entire community in theloss they have sustained. "Baby" was sick but a few days, scarce long enough for the fond parents to realize their treasure was in danger when the opening flower was transplanted to the gardens of Paradise. May He who when on earth called the little ones to Himself and blessed them, comfort the mourning ones.

The funeral occurred at Evergreen school house Sunday afternoon, Rev. S.W. Pollard officiating.
